Why Ghee is good for your Hairs
Apart from being a versatile culinary favourite with Indian women, ghee aka butter is also packed to the brim with ample beauty benefits, especially for your hair. While its health quotient might still be under some amount of debate, here are the many ways in which you can use it to treat your hair.
Prompts hair growth
There are many reasons that cause hair loss, some being stress, undernourished hair and deficiencies et al – but ghee comes in handy to treat hair fall with its high Omega 3 and Omega 9 fatty acids, conjugated linoleic acid, vitamin and mineral content. Ghee also contains carotenoids and vitamins A and E, these antioxidants fight free radicals and promote skin cell growth which in turn leads to a nourished scalp all of which nourish the scalp and prompt healthy hair growth.
Deep conditions dry hair
Loaded with antioxidants and fatty acids that make it easily absorbable into the scalp, ghee is capable of deep conditioning and repairing dry, frizzy, damaged hair.
How to:
Blend together equal amounts of olive or coconut oil and ghee into a rich mixture and massage well for a good 20 minutes. Wash off with a mild shampoo for smooth hair.
Repairs split ends
Rich in nutrients like vitamins A, D, K2, E and antioxidants, ghee is extremely beneficial when it comes to nourishing split ends, which are basically a result of undernourished hair. Chemical treatments and products also dry out the hair to such an extent that it leads to split ends.
How to:
Warm enough ghee and apply it onto the ends of your tresses. After an hour or so, rinse with a mild shampoo and cold water.
Gets rid of dandruff
Dandruff also occurs when your sebaceous glands produce too little oil and in turn causing a dry, flaky, itchy scalp! Ghee (clarified butter) not only contains fatty acids that are good for consumption but is also loaded with beneficial vitamins and minerals that help eliminate dandruff on application.
How to:
Take about two tablespoons of ghee and melt it, squeeze in half of a lemon’s juice and massage well on the scalp. Let it stay for a good 30 minutes and wash off with a mild anti-dandruff shampoo such as the Dove Hair Therapy Dandruff Care Shampoo for your best benefit.
